RICK ASHBURN
, Founding Principal
Chief Investment Officer
Rick Ashburn Education
Rick was graduated from the University of Maryland with High Honors in Economics, and attended the UCLA Graduate School of Economics under a University Fellowship. He has taken additional graduate and extension courses in accounting, planning, taxation and investments.

Rick holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. The CFA is granted upon completion of a rigorous series of exams taken over not less than 3 years that are focused on statistical analysis, investment management and securities valuation.

The CFA charter is the global standard for institutional-level investment managers.

Career
His investment career started by specializing in municipal bonds at First Interstate Bank in Los Angeles in 1985.

He served as Chief Investment Officer of a private investment firm in San Diego, and as a Managing Director at MBIA, Inc., an S&P 500 company specializing in financial guarantees and investment management. He founded Creekside's predecessor firm in 2003.

Rick has served clients as diverse as the State of California, the Rueben H. Fleet Science Center in San Diego, and members of the Scripps Clinic Medical Group.

Accomplishments and Memberships
In 1998, the California State Treasurer appointed Rick as a technical advisor to the California Debt and Investment Advisory Commission. Rick also served as an expert consultant to the Securities and Exchange Commission on a landmark securities enforcement case. He has given expert testimony to a California State Senate subcommittee.

He has published over a dozen articles and has given talks and speeches for regional and national audiences. He has taught a number of finance courses for the University of California Extension system.

Rick is a member of the American Mensa Society and the CFA Society. He has served as a board member of the Financial Analysts Society of San Diego.
ANDY HEMPECK, Principal
Director of Portfolio Management
Andy HempeckEducation
Andy is a graduate of Oregon State University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. Andy also attended graduate school at Golden Gate University, San Francisco and has taken classes in planning and taxation at the University of California Extension, Berkeley.

Career
Andy has eighteen years of investment industry experience. Prior to joining Creekside, Andy served as Vice-President at Fisher Investments where he focused on research, client relationship management and portfolio management. Andy was directly involved in the portfolio construction of over 700 million dollars for private clients and foundations. During his nine-year tenure at Fisher, he was a part of the team that grew the firm's assets from 2 Billion of assets under management to over 43 Billion.


His career began in the early nineties as a registered representative at a boutique brokerage firm in Seattle, Washington. He later worked for the Bank of San Francisco where he managed the trading department. In that capacity, he advised many C-level Fortune 500 company executives on trading strategies for their individual employee stock option plans.

Accomplishments and Memberships
Andy sits on the Board of Directors of the Saint Vincent's Day Home in Oakland, California.

Andy has also attained the Eagle Scout award within the Boy Scouts of America.

He has expertise with Non-qualified employee stock options, Incentive stock options, and restricted stock.
LENORE HAWKINS
Portfolio Manager and Director of Planning, San Diego Office
Lenore HawkinsEducation
Lenore holds the Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Economics from Claremont McKenna College and an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA. She consistently achieved Dean's list honors during both her undergraduate and master's degree programs. Ms. Hawkins is currently a candidate for the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP) designation.

Career
Lenore brings to Creekside 16 years of experience in finance, strategic planning, risk management and asset valuation. Lenore found her life's passion and began developing her expertise in helping protect and guide families through the complex world of estate planning, trusts and investment management after leaving her corporate position in order to act as Trustee of her family's estate. As Trustee, Lenore managed the family's intricate legal, business management, business disposition, estate planning, asset management and life insurance needs.

Lenore has previously served as Vice President of Finance and Technology for Centara Capital Management Group, (a provider of coordinated financial planning, investment management, tax, insurance and estate planning services for high net worth individuals and families) where she designed and implemented financial strategies and led the acquisition of a complimentary business.

Prior to that Lenore was the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Corporate Development for National Mobile Television where she was responsible for evaluation of investment opportunities and the design and implementation of complex corporate financial structures. Lenore has also worked with JP Morgan in New York City in Private Client Service, which provides wealth management consulting to high net worth individuals and families. Lenore began her career with Accenture Consulting where she led consulting teams advising financial services clients, such as the Capital Group (a group of investment management companies including the American Funds, Capital Bank and Trust, and Capital International Funds), Charles Schwab, and Bank of America.

Accomplishments and Memberships
Lenore has expertise with developing and implementing financial strategies and coordinating the four pillars of estate planning; legal, insurance, tax and asset management to minimize taxes and protect a client's net worth.

Lenore is a member of the Financial Planning Association of San Diego and sits of the Board of La Cuña, a non-profit foster family agency. She is a member of the San Diego Social Venture Partners, an organization which helps San Diego nonprofit agencies become more effective and sustainable and St. Germaine Children's Charity, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to stopping child abuse and improving the lives of abused and neglected children in San Diego.
